Do you believe that “You Rock Mom!?” Many of us moms are bogged down in the things of life: insecurities, hang-ups, busyness, regrets, worries, frustrations, etc. We let them overwhelm and defeat us.

I want this blog to make you feel like “You Rock Mom!” You rock this world with the kids you are raising (or have already raised) to impact the next generation. And by faith in Jesus Christ, His indwelling power, and the infallible Word of God (the Bible), He rocks your world into calm. “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on SOLID ROCK.” Matthew 7:24.

I’m inspired by moms who make a difference in our world, despite their busyness and/or hardships suffered. I often interview women as “You Rock Moms” for inspiration and hope for myself and others.

I also have a new passion for orphaned and vulnerable children in Zambia, Africa, after my son and I visited in the summer of 2011.  As a child, I would cry in fear that God would send me to Africa. Now I cry in faith so I can return. We learned that it was easier to pretend orphans were not real before we held them in our arms. But once we did, everything changed.

I am also blessed with a patient, loving…husband and our two wonderful, funny…sons. We’ve shared the sport of TaeKwon-Do, all of us earning Black Belts. And now that our boys have moved into Scouts, marching band, football…, we love being their biggest cheerleaders and venturing through life with them.

The verse that rocks my everyday living and priorities into balance is, “…Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37

In other words: Always err on the side of relationships. The dust and laundry will return but time with relationships may not.

The verses that bring balance to my parenting are similar to the above in Deuteronomy 6:4-9, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.”

In other words: Teachable Moments! Use them often!  There’s only so much time before the kids are gone!

From these blessed women, relationships, orphan care, Biblical truths, and Jesus Christ (my Rock) come lessons learned, joys and sorrows shared, sports injuries, laughter, deep thoughts, proud moments, chocolate bliss…Life!

Welcome to my blog and if you are a mom remember, You Rock Mom–You Rock!
